Stay Wild Rescue

We work very hard to be of assistance to any animal we run into working animal control and they come to us in several different ways. Maybe they're from a search or seizure, maybe they were found wandering the streets or dropped off on the side of a road, or maybe their owners moved out of an apartment and left them behind - we've had all of these things happen to us.

So while doing some grant research for TnR, we realized our non-profit was classified under animal welfare and realized there is no reason not to use it as such. So we dropped the "TnR" from our title and decided to move forward with the mission to help every animal, with the intent to educate and maintain the traits that each animal is genetically born with. While this non-profit is not a "shelter", we are hoping to raise money for the animals that need food, assistance, medical, and any other needs that arise, primarily focused on animals in a shelter environment.

This non-profit will serve primarily Webster County but as we all know, education has no boundaries or limits - we are ready to continue educating our community on the inner workings of our four legged family members and provide care to those in need.

Feral Cats & Our Stay Wild TNR Program

Feral cats are not like stray or pet cats, they are unsocialized outdoor cats who have never come in contact with a person or are no longer familiarized with people. Most feral cats are fearful of people and are not likely to ever enjoy life indoors.

Feral cats can be a big problem in the community and one of the best ways to fix this issue is with our Stay Wild TNR (trap-neuter-release) program.

Stay Wild TNR does exactly what it stands for. We trap and catch feral cats, neuter them at a vet clinic, and then release them back to the location they were caught. Feral cats want to stay wild and the best way to slow down the population is with a TNR program.

If you see an abundance of feral cats in your area, click here to fill out a form to add your neighborhood to the waiting list for our next round of TNR.

Please understand that TNR is not in the WCAP's contract and the Stay Wild TNR program is completely funded by donations and fundraisers and requires enough funds to keep the program going.

Let's learn more about cats!

There's three categories

We use this information to decide what option is the best one to take for the cat you've found! Feral and community cats were raised outdoors and don't always acclimate well to inside accommodations. Domesticated Cats are eligible for the pound since they're easily rehomed!

We can not solve this problem without your help! The Stay Wild TNR program requires donations to keep operating and reduce the amount of feral cats in Fort Dodge. If you would like to donate live traps or bait, click here.
