Feral cats are not like stray or pet cats, they are unsocialized outdoor cats who have never come in contact with a person or are no longer familiarized with people. Most feral cats are fearful of people and are not likely to ever enjoy life indoors.
Feral cats can be a big problem in the community and one of the best ways to fix this issue is with our Stay Wild TNR (trap-neuter-release) program.
Stay Wild TNR does exactly what it stands for. We trap and catch feral cats, neuter them at a vet clinic, and then release them back to the location they were caught. Feral cats want to stay wild and the best way to slow down the population is with a TNR program.
If you see an abundance of feral cats in your area, click here to fill out a form to add your neighborhood to the waiting list for our next round of TNR.
Please understand that TNR is not in the WCAP's contract and the Stay Wild TNR program is completely funded by donations and fundraisers and requires enough funds to keep the program going.
We can not solve this problem without your help! The Stay Wild TNR program requires donations to keep operating and reduce the amount of feral cats in Fort Dodge. If you would like to donate live traps or bait, click here.
